ozcots 2010:
building capacity in statistics education
OZCOTS 2010 is building on the success of the timing and formal of OZCOTS 2008 as a satellite to the Australian Statistics Conference (ASC) with an overlap on Thursday 9th December. Details of ASC 2010 can be obtained from http://www.promaco.com.au/2010/asc. A link to the OZCOTS 2010 website will also be on this and the SSAI website (http://www.statsoc.org.au).
Statistical education is of vital significance to all statisticians and the statistical profession across the spectrum of educational levels and disciplines. The supply of statisticians is just one aspect of this spectrum, and the education of future customers, users, producers, developers and researchers of statistics is both challenging and important for a modern information society and hence to the statistical profession. OZCOTS 2010 is of interest to all involved in the teaching and learning of statistics, including universities, colleges and schools, industries and governments.
Keynote speakers are:
- Thursday, 9th December: Professor Chris Wild, Auckland University.
- Friday 10th December: Professor Delia North, University of KwaZulu-Natal.
